CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Della

“Right now?”

“Yes luna.” The guard nods enthusiastically. “They are at the pack hospital.”

Good timing little one. “Okay, can you please let Alex know I will be there shortly?” I said over my shoulder as I run towards the pack hospital. It takes me no less than five minutes to get there with my lycan speed.

“Luna!” A nurse quickly pops her head out of nowhere. “The gammas are this way.” She gestured to a hallway to our left.

“Thank you,” I huffed out. I can’t believe it’s time. I’m nervous and excited. I love babies, even though they also terrify me.

“So Luna.” I look at the nurse’s name tag—Abigail. “When will we expect a baby from you and the alpha?” Tripping over my feet, I land headfirst into the floor. “Omg, are you okay?”

Groaning, I got up and nodded. She starts fussing over me, asking over and over if I’m okay and started to examine me. Putting my hand up, I showed her the grazes healing over. “I’m fine Abigail, you just surprised me.”

“I’m sorry,” she said with a giggle. “I just can’t wait to see a little alpha, it would be an absolute honour to be here helping with the delivery.” Her cheeks went bright red in embarrassment.

“We will see, Abigail,” I said as I spot Alex in the hallway pacing back and forth. “Alex! How is she?”

He stopped pacing to look over to me. “Um, good, good, I think.” He started pacing again, eyes on the ground. “I hope they both will be okay. I can’t believe I’m about to be a dad.” He looks up to me. “I’ve always wanted to be a dad and now I will be—”

“Alex,” I said softly. “Don’t you think Jade needs you now more than ever?”

He stops his pacing. His eyes went wide. Slapping his forehead, he muttered, “Right,” and dashes into the delivery room. Laughing softly, I took a seat in the hallway. I wonder what Dxton will be like. Would he have the same kind of reaction or— Stop it, don’t go down that rabbit hole, Della. For now, just wait for the baby to arrive.

And I did, thirteen hours of it, and thirteen hours later, in the late hours of the night, Jade gave birth to her first child.

“Omg!!!” A distant voice hollered. I laughed slightly when the owner of the voice came charging out of the doors. “I’m a dad! I have a daughter!” Alex exclaimed before dashing back inside. He rushed back outside to usher me in when I remained outside the room.

Laughing softly, I got up. “Congratulations,” I said, walking in through the door. He beamed widely at me. I look over to Jade who was lying on the bed. She carried her daughter in her arms, with the softest smile on her face. She looked up at us and smiled weakly. She waved Alex over. Carefully, Jade placed their daughter in his arms.

“I-I’m a father,” he slowly said. “Oh good God,” he groans.

I laugh at him and put my hand on his shoulders.
